Editorial – What’s New? (full story)

Whats New?

The sun is finally offering the warmth most of us have been eagerly waiting for. Although this past winter wasn’t the worst on record, it did overstay its welcome in some parts of the country. It’s still cool outside as I write this! As much as I love photographing in winter, I’m ecstatic that summer is finally here with swimming, camping, canoeing, kayaking, and I’m sure your favourite pastime will come to mind. The summer season is also ushering in some changes for the magazine. We are excited to announce a new columnist starting with this issue. Please join me in welcoming professional photographer Viktoria Haack, hailing from BC, as our new Beginner Basics columnist. Haack is excited to join our family and share her knowledge of photography with our readership. Some of you might be asking what happened to Don Komarechka, our past Beginner Basics columnist. Don’t worry, he is still with the magazine, but we have given him a new assignment. Komarechka, starting with this issue, will be taking on a new column entitled Pushing Limits. You can read the first installment on page 40.

I’d also like to take this opportunity to send out a big thank you to a number of our readers. These readers, and you know who you are, have been subscribing to our magazine since the beginning, and next year will mark our 10th anniversary. You are as much a part of our family as the staff that work at OPC. So again, thank you for your support and commitment to our ever-growing magazine. Now sit back, grab your favourite drink and immerse yourself into the world of photography, even if for just a while.
