April 2014 – Emphasis
Assignment is now closed. Assignment images already submitted:
For this assignment, use emphasis to draw attention to an outdoor subject. This can be done in several ways:
• making items seem larger than they really are (close foreground in a wide angle lens)
• selective focus (small aperture number) to make the background out of focus and softer.
• shooting at a fast shutter speed freezing a moving subject, or using a slow shutter speed to blur moving objects and focusing on a still subject.
There are many possibilities. You are only limited by your imagination.
First Round: Initial judging will take place during upload. If your image is chosen as a first round qualifier it will appear in the gallery. All others will be deleted.
Second Round: Finalist judging will take place immediately upon closing of the assignment. Finalists will be notified for hi resolution images for further judging.
Final Round: A winner will be chosen from the finalists and contacted.
Only one image from all submitted images will be chosen as the April assignment winner. The deadline for this assignment is May 9, 2014. Anything uploaded after the deadline will be ineligible.
Prizes: The winning image will be published in the Summer (July 2014) issue of OPC and the winner will receive a signed copy of photographer Don Komarechka’s new book, Sky Crystals, photographer Noel Chenier’s Photography Assignment Generator App for DSLRs available for your iPad or iPhone.
