Explore the hidden details in the natural world all around us. Close-up / Macro photography reveals the universe at our feet, and your assignment is to capture these fascinating details. You’ll be surprised what you can discover in your own backyard, but feel free to explore any location for tiny details!
First Round: Initial judging will take place during upload. If your image is chosen as a first round qualifier it will appear in the gallery. All others will be deleted. Typically entries are judged within 24hrs of upload.
Second Round: Finalist judging will take place immediately upon closing of the assignment. Finalists will be notified for hi resolution images for further judging.
Final Round: A winner will be chosen from the finalists and contacted.
Prizes: The winning image will be published in the Fall/Winter (Oct 2016) issue of OPC and the winner will receive a signed copy of Don Komarechka’s book Sky Crystals
Each participant can only upload one image per assignment, so make it your absolute best shot. All photographs entered in any Outdoor Photography Canada magazine contest remain the property of the photographer. The photographer, by entering the contest, agrees that his or her photo may be published by SunLight Media Inc. as it relates to the contest in print, digital and on the OPC website. No other usage of any photograph entered is authorized or implied.
Three finalists will be chosen and notified for hi resolution versions of their entries for further consideration to choose a winner. Finalists will be announced on our social media channels (Facebook and Twitter). The winner will be announced both on social media as well as have their image appear in the next issue of the magazine following the contest.
Who is eligible?
Only Canadian residents 18 years of age or older may enter this assignment contest where not prohibited by law. Employees of Outdoor Photography Canada magazine, SunLight Media Inc. or any of the sponsors or affiliates there of are not eligible to enter the contest. This contest is only open to amateur photographers. Professional photographers may not enter. The term “professional” will mean that you make more than 50% of your yearly income from photography.
