I am looking at purchasing a 70-200mm 2.8 telephoto zoom lens on a Nikon system (D300s). there are 2 I am considering and would appreciate any thoughts on either one to assist me in my decision.
1. Sigma 70 -200 mm 2.8 OS or
2. Nikon 70-200mm 2.8, VR or VRII
Any experiences would be helpful

I cannot attest to the Sigma
I cannot attest to the Sigma but I do have the Nikon 70-200mm VRII and I LOVE it. It is razor sharp and seems to work quite well with the Nikon TC 20EIII. It is a pricey lens but good glass should last you a long time. Remember as well that a 200mm lens on a DX body effectively becomes a 300mm lens on the long end. That is some great reach, especially if you couple it with a decent teleconverter.
Here are a couple examples of this combo I took on a recent trip to the Banff area. The two bear images were taken with the 2X TC attached and the Bull Elk was just the 70-200. (Just to give you an idea of what you can expect in terms of sharpness etc...)
