| Hi there Allan from Toronto. As a photodrapher we can do two things to both bring the enviroment issues to people with our photos and we can also help the enviroment.I do own a veical but most of the time instead of me taking the car to go and take my shots I take public transit wethere I photo in my city or outside my city I take greyhound. You not only help the enviroment but you also win for instance when I travel to niagra falls or montreal I will take the bus after a day of shooting I get to set back and relax on my way home not only that if I shoot digital and have my laptop with me.On my way home on the bus I have time to take out the card load my laptop and by the time I get back from montreal I have edited my work and ready to print when I get home so you see you get a lot more done by leaving the car at home. |

Allan that's great and it certainly has several advantages
However Canada is a very large Country and Public Transit only covers a very small portion of it
when i shoot anywhere other than near home [ like a subject i come across while walking the dog for instance] in this area public transit is extremely limited
I am in the Annapolis Valley and the only Public transit is a regional bus service [Hourly] between the major centres None of those centres are on the Bay of Fundy for instance Considering it takes a half hour walking at a good clip to reach the bus route and would probably involve a longer walk from there to a desired shooting location it is not really practical around here Greyhound locally would only be an option if one intended to overnight [ perhaps 2 or 3 nights] near the shooting location It also seems the regional greyhound carrier is intending to reduce service from Kentville to Halifax and eliminate it between Kentville and Digby
While I applaud your efforts and certainly find the idea Commendable
[ I actually envy your opportunities ] it really doesn't work for many Canadians Outside of the larger centres
I spent many years in Canada's north [ North of 60]
Greyhound to get up there From Edmonton was Plausible Bus service from the main line to where I was [Ft Simpson ] was weekly service
I also spent a couple years in Toronto [78-80] where the public transit is a dream compared to what i was used to so I do know that for many Public Transit is very viable
