Hello From Ontario
Hello everyone,
Just picked up this magazine a few days ago when I was at camp and I have to say I loved it, haven't read a magazine cover to cover so fast in a while.
I guess I will introduce myself now.
My name is Dylan and I am just starting to get into photography as a hobby. I am really enjoying it so far and feel that I am improving greatly.
When I saw this magazine I was excited because I never heard of it before.
One question I have is where do you find out when new contests are announced? this sounds like a really cool thing to participate in.

I am also new to this site.
My name is Shelley and I live in Ontario as well.
I'm glad you picked up the magazine. I have not missed an issue since I discovered it a few years ago.
You will find that every new issue offers something new. I enjoy issues that suggest specific locations for good wildlife photo ops and of course the helpful tips and images. It really is a lovely and informative magazine- so nice to have something like this in Canada.

OPC has several contests each year. Some are ongoing month to month, some are quarterly and some are yearly. We have the following which may interest you:
Reader's Pick contest (online): http://www.outdoorphotographycanada.com/readerspick.html The reader's pick contest is now closed for this quarter until voting is complete on August 9th. Then a new contest begins and lasts for 2 months for uploading and voting for your favourite images. This contest is free. Click the link for rules and regulations for participation and how to win.
Editor's Assignment contest (online): http://www.outdoorphotographycanada.com/editorsassignment.html The Editor's assignment contest just closed on July 31. A new assignment will be announced this week. This contest is also free. Click the link to read the rules and guidelines for participation and how to win.
Bi-Annual photo contest (magazine): See the winners from the Fall 2009 contest here: http://outdoorphotographycanada.com/contest2009/2009_Fall_Contest_Results.pdf The Spring 2010 contest closed on May 31 and the judging is completed. The winners will be announced in the Fall issue 2010 of the magazine. Announcement of the next major photo contest will be on the website and the next issue of the magazine. This contest usually has an entry fee of $15 for 10 photos.
