Despite the fact there was a wall between us, I could hear the photographer in the hotel room next to me cursing and swearing. Earlier that day, he had been in a boat beside me as we photographed a beautiful sequence involving a loon parent on a nest with a freshly-hatched chick. I assumed his anger had something to do with his images not quite living up to what he had witnessed in the field, and I was right.

   "None of them are sharp. Something's wrong with my lens," he moaned, before going on to explain that he had done everything right. A quick glance at the metadata for his images on his laptop proved otherwise ...
